Matías Rogers made the most of his time on this earth. Just like the quote from legendary runner Steve Prefontaine says, Mayo did not sacrifice his gift. He gave his best in everything he did - from being a great supportive friend, to someone who cared about his community, was a high honors AP student with a 4.3 GPA and, after just one year of competitive cross country and track, became one of the greatest distance runners of his age in the entire country. His story is truly inspiring.

Matías at the Monte Vista Invitational

Discovering cross country just one month before this meet, Matías finished 4th out of 188 freshman runners in his first official race. This short highlight reel shows signs of what was to become during his two years as a runner.

Camp Mayo 2021

Just one month after his passing, the annual Delta Limitless Running Club's Summer Camp was renamed “Camp Mayo.” Matías would have been one of the camp's attendees and was very close friends with many of the campers. Camp Mayo meant much more to everyone as it allowed for the opportunity to be surrounded by those who were learning to cope with the tragedy. It was an extremely emotional, but beautiful experience. Thank you to all who made the first annual Mayo Camp special.
